-My process lies between the art of performance and photography, a space of transmutation and ethereal healing that create a contemporary vision of visual art.
RIZLANE
Born in Montreal, Rizlane is a visual artist whose practice unfolds at the intersection of performance and photography. Rooted in a lifelong devotion to movement, her work explores the body as a sacred site of healing, transformation, and emotional transmutation, where it becomes a symbol of purity, evoking the presence of angels, specters, and mythic deities.
Raised in an artistic environment by a painter father, and trained in gymnastics throughout her youth, Rizlane developed an early, intimate relationship with the expressive potential of the body. Today, her ongoing study of contemporary dance continues to shape her practice, where gesture, breath, and physical presence become essential languages of creation.
Her process begins with performance as a deeply personal ritual—an act of liberation and restoration. Through intuitive movement, controlled breath, and states of heightened perception, she enters a space where emotions are released, transformed, and re-embodied. Influenced by mythology, ancient tales, and symbolic narratives, her performances often seek to reconnect the body with archetypal memory, nature, and the invisible realms of experience and dreams.
Photography becomes the vessel through which these ephemeral acts are preserved. Using long-exposure techniques and layered imagery, Rizlane captures the traces of movement, revealing ethereal forms that exist between presence and disappearance. Within these fluid compositions, the body dissolves into light, creating dreamlike archetypes that embody both vulnerability and strength.
Conceptually, the uniqueness of performance lies at the heart of her practice. Because each performative act exists only once in time, her photographic works are produced as single editions—honoring the singularity and “salvation” of the original moment. Each image stands as both a document and a transformation: a material echo of an unrepeatable act of healing and becoming. Through this dialogue between performance and photography, Rizlane creates a contemporary visual language where movement becomes memory, the ephemeral becomes tangible, and the act of creation itself becomes a process of profound emotional transmutation.
Rizlane’s work has been exhibited internationally across Canada, New York, and Florida, where her ethereal visual language has resonated with collectors, curators, and contemporary art audiences alike. Through both solo and group exhibitions, her practice continues to evolve and expand.
Her work has been featured in numerous international art publications and magazines such as Art Scene+Mag, Visual Art Journal, Divide Magazine and many more, she is Top 100 emerging artists by Arts to hearts Project. Rizlane received an Honorable Mention by the Color Awards, ND Awards, the Chromatic Awards and won Second Place at the Fine Art Photography Awards. Her work was featured in Dodho Magazine for both the Colors Awards and the Fine Art Awards the same year. She is also the first photographer to sign her 1/1 photographic works with a natural De Beers diamond, pushing the boundaries of certification and redefining notions of authorship and exclusivity in contemporary art.
“Her work inspires a deep emotional response, inviting viewers into an introspective journey — a metamorphosis of the gaze. A visionary pioneer at the intersection of technology, spirit, and art, Rizlane transforms each photograph into a sacred relic — a rare fusion of sensuality, abstraction, and spiritual elevation. Her artistic language suggests that the body is not merely seen, but revered — as a temple, a symbol, a whisper of the divine.”
